Top 10 Prospects: #5 Alex Tuch

Alex Tuch
Right Wing
Shoots: Right
Height: 6'4". Weight: 213 lbs.

2013-14 Team: USA National Under-18 Team (USHL)
Acquired: 1st round pick (18th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft
Previous Rank: NR

In June's draft, Minnesota selected six foot, four inch forward Alex Tuch from the United States Development team. Tuch was projected to go by the middle of the first round, but fell to the Wild at #18. The Wild wasted no time in selecting the soon to be Boston College right wing.

Here is an excerpt from the draft night post on Tuch:
Plain and simple, Tuch is a power forward. At 6'4", he projects to be a big presence in front of the net for Minnesota. He can skate well, has great hands, gives tremendous effort, and can play a good two way game. His best attributes come in the offensive zone where he uses his big frame and great strength to win the battles out front of the net and along the boards. Tuch is also a very smart player, and knows when to take a chance on pitching in deep or when to back off and try and make a better play on the defensive side.
So basically, the Wild got a big body for out front of the net and a kid who is smart/responsible defensively.

For the 2014-15 season, Tuch will be playing for the Eagles of Boston College. He is still a ways from playing in the NHL, but nonetheless he is a tremendous talent the Wild will need down the road. Make sure to keep an eye on Tuch as he plays in the big lights of Hockey East this year.
