All Time High

Good morning from Denver, where the weather is lovely and Avs fans are salty.

As I related to last night, words can not truly describe how incredible last night was. A day that began at 4 AM Minnesota time, reached its pinnacle around 11 PM Denver time when Nino Niederreiter sent the Minnesota Wild to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Its hard to recall what it was like 11 years ago, but that had to be the most intense game of hockey I have ever witnessed. The Avs would punch, only to have the Wild punch back. The concerning fact heading into overtime was that the Wild had not lead the game for one second. They made quick work of that stat (am I right?).

Now the page has to quickly turn, as the Wild head to Chicago where a meeting with the defending Cup Champs, and the team that eliminated them in last years playoffs, awaits. The Blackhawks rolled off four consecutive victories after falling down 2-0 to the St. Louis Blues.

I will try and get more in as today we look ahead to Chicago now, but a few sights to see in Denver and flights back to Minnesota may derail these plans. We will see.
