Tomorrow marks the third all time meeting between the Wild and Jets, since the team returned to Winnipeg. There has just been one previous meeting between the two at Xcel Energy Center, and it was a 4-3 shootout win for the Jets back in February 2012.
But something that has been noticed at Xcel Energy Center during the Jets games (counting the one regular season matchup in 2012 and the preseason tilt last month), is the fact that Wild fans are getting outgunned by the several hundred (or possibly thousand) Jets fans that make their way down to St. Paul.
Jets fans have been loud, whereas Wild fans tend to just sit and do nothing. Now are we really going to allow this? No.
So for those going to the game tomorrow night, here is a guide as to what to do/say when Jets fans get going:
- When Jet fans start chanting "Go Jets Go", DO NOT respond by simply booing. That's the worst comeback...ever. Respond with a chant of "Lets Go Wild". Its not great, but its still better than just booing.
- Jet fans are notorious for heckling the opposition goalie. Return the favor. Start chanting "Paaaaaaaavelec! Paaaaaaaavelec!" at their goaltender (assuming Pavelec is starting for Winnipeg). Otherwise, you will just have Jet fans chanting "Haarrrrrrding! Haarrrrrrding!" tomorrow night. And who wants to see the home team's goalie get heckled like that?
- Don't just sit there and do nothing. Yell when there is a hit. Cheer for a good save. Just make noise throughout the game! And please for the love of god do not yell "SHOOOOOOT!" when the Wild are on the power play. My god people that is annoying.
- If you see a Jet fan wearing this jersey, give them a hard time. Selanne did not wear that jersey. He wore this one.
We are the Team of 18,001, residing in the State of Hockey. Lets freaking act like it.

To all the Jets fan at tomorrows game........GO JETS GO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd to Wild fans: don't get freaked out by the "TRUE NORTH" shoutout during the Canadian anthem. That is our tribute to True North Sports & Entertainment. ie. the group that brought the Jets back!
ReplyDeleteGods I hate hearing that. Yay, the NHL is back in Winnipeg. Please don't thank the people who made it so that the average person can't afford to go to a professional hockey game with their family. The Wild might have some lackluster fans, but at least it's affordable to go to a game there.
DeleteSupply and demand dictates what can be charged. They have no problem selling out, it must be affordable then one would presume.
DeleteOh boo hoo- you can't afford it! Look NHL hockey isn't food, water, or shelter - it's ENTERTAINMENT. If you can't afford it, then keep it to yourself. No one cares about your financial problems. GO JETS GO!!!!!
Deleteexactly!!!! order the jets channel then!
DeleteTwin cities with how many million people? And you can't sell out? Lacklustre fans doesn't even begin to describe your problem. Thanks for sharing! Hope you love the "TRUE NORTH" you hear tonight!
DeleteGood pep talk, just missed the Gipper part...
ReplyDeleteWe're coming to your house to heckle your goalie and and probably little Zachy P too.
Good luck!
Oh and Go Jets Go!
I'm coming to their house to drink their crappy beer and have sex with their beautiful women. In that order.
DeleteGO JETS GO!
Good pep talk, just missed the Gipper part...
ReplyDeleteWe're coming to your house to heckle your goalie and and probably little Zachy P too.
Good luck!
Oh and Go Jets Go!
Damn, I wish I was sitting beside you at the game!!!
DeleteGo Jets Go!!!!!
Really their fans needs a guideline?
ReplyDeleteGo JETS Go
The Wild. Is there a worse logo in all of sports?
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!
Ummm... Yes, the Jets logo. Worst logo in all of sports. And Winnipeg is pretty much the biggest dump around.
DeleteOh someone has not a happy life GO JETS GO !!!!!!! TRUE NORTH
DeleteActually, I love the Wild logo. It's creative.
DeleteCheers to a great game tonight.
GO JETS GO
How is the Wild logo creative. It sucks big ball and looks cheap, I am not even sure what their logo is suppose to be. The Wild are a boring team to watch. They should make Wild games C category games at the MTS Centre!
DeleteYou make Jets fans look bad. Change your attitude or stop talking.
DeleteAgreed. ^^^ that is NOT the typical Jets fan! I personally love visiting Minnie whenever I can, especially to catch the Vikes play. Am really looking forward to an exciting rivalry develop between out hockey teams. Keep it clean - no injuries... and GO JETS GO!!!
DeleteYeah, dude. Ease up.
DeleteDear Minnesota,
Ignore this hack.
Cheers to a great game tonight! Come up and visit us sometime this season, we'll buy you a drink... Then heckle the shit out of your goalie. ;)
Cheers!
GO JETS GO
The Wild logo is ok, but what exactly is a "Wild"?
DeleteIs the team just one big Wild? Or is each player a Wild?
GO Jets GO!!!
GO JETS GO!
ReplyDeleteLooking like the Wild fans are out-gunned here too! Go Jets Go!
ReplyDeleteSexing their women and drinking their beer is almost as good as cheering for the jets in their barn. The fact that a guide is posted at all mean that you won't have a hope in competing with jets fans! GO JETS GO!!
ReplyDeleteGOOOOO JETSSSS GOOOO!!!!!
ReplyDeletewe bring 1000 u bring 18000.. still u silly loud talking americans cant be heard ;)!!! kinda odd cause usually you guys never shut up !! as said before Go jets GO ..ps nice guide to being brutal fans
ReplyDeleteGOOOO JETS!!!
ReplyDeleteYou go one thing right...If you see any Jets fans wearing a jersey like that you should give them a hard time, its a fake jersey
ReplyDeleteOh my god... not a single Wild fan has even posted here. And now Jets fans know their game plan. Go Jets Go!
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!~
ReplyDeleteGo Jets Go!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHaarrrrrrding! Haarrrrrrding!
GO JETS GO!!!! If you didn't have season ticket holders down there in Minnesota, we'd sell out your arena and have 2 home rinks to play in! ;)
ReplyDeleteExcellent comment
DeleteReading the article, and all of the responses truely made my day.
ReplyDeleteJets fans are coming into your house and eating all of your porridge! I can't wait to see how "The State of Hockey" responds.
I love the Wild fans but something is off when fans need to be reminded how to be fans.
Go Jets Go!!
Great tips Giles! Wild fans could definitely use a "How To" Guide. GO JETS GO!
ReplyDeleteGo jets go.
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome...word is that we've actually got ~4000 fans making the trip, should be fun.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job Jets fans! Wish I could have gone! Go Jets Go!
DeleteHaarrrrrrding! Haarrrrrrding!
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!
GO JETS GO!!!!

ReplyDeleteGo Jets Go!
Are there actually Wild fans somewhere? I've never heard or seen them. GO JETS GO!!
ReplyDeleteTrue North!
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!
And yes the Nordic ladies of the Twin Cities are lovely. ;)
All you piece's of shit jets fans go back to your trailer park with your shitty hockey team!!!!!!!!! LETS GO WILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ps Prediction of the Score: WILD 4 JETS 1
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure we're not piece of shit fans seen that we have the BEST fans in the league. Again, were not the ones having to be tought how to stick up for our team.
DeleteHawk fan here, classy comment... Jets fans are EASILY the #1 group of fans in the NHL today.
DeleteI don't doubt that the Wild will win, they are the better team. But it's a sad state when a fanbase has to be given directions on how to keep home ice advantage in the cheering department.
Buddy, we live in Winnipeg, not Arkansas.
DeleteGo Jets!
"Buddy, we live in Winnipeg, not Arkansas."
DeleteHa! Love it, best comment yet.
GO JETS GO
Yup, real classy comment.
DeleteActually a better response would have been "Buddy, we live in Winnipeg, not White Bear Lake."
DeleteI can't wait to watch this game. I love watching Jet's fan's outdo all the other teams in the league! GO JETS GO!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how they have to teach their fans,,, how to be fans!! Hahahahaha. GO JETS GO!!
ReplyDeleteGO Wild!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust kidding... GO JETS GO!!!!
"We are the Team of 18,001."
ReplyDeleteLOL
Not really.
GO JETS GO!!!!
Maybe the team of 14,001 tonight. Our 4000 will still be louder than them! GO JETS GO!!!
Delete18,001 what? Wilds?
DeleteI just don't, and never will, get the name "Wild" for a team.
What do you call the players?
Go jets go!
ReplyDeleteSeems like there won't be anybody to help out the wild when every one is sayin GO JETS GO :) oh ya GO JETS GO !!
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!! Outside of the MTS Centre, the Xcel Center is one of my favorite hockey venues. True, it is not too lively but the people are great and it is a beautiful facility. Looking forward to coming down, having some fun with the Wild fans. I went in 2011 and it was a blast. GO JETS GO
ReplyDelete39 comments and 1 of them was from a Wild fan? I think they just need to admit that obviously Manitoba loves hockey more than Minnesota :P Maybe it has to do with the fact that you can pay for fuel in your car, a cheap hotel room, and a lower bowl ticket to watch the Jets play in St. Paul for less money than getting a upper deck ticket at MTS Centre.
ReplyDeleteOr the fact that Minnesota has a zillion better things to do there than watch some shit sport like hockey.
DeleteYou don't like watching hockey? Then what the hell are you even doing reading about it? Idiot.
DeleteLike what?
DeleteThere is no sport better than hockey lol!
DeleteYour mother wears army boots
ReplyDeleteWhy not google the teams and see where the Jets rank for sales. Tickets and merchandise. The wild wont even be close. We are FUELED BY PASSION. We love hockey and I cant wait for us to take over YOUR HOUSE. MAYBE RENAME IT MTS CENTRE 2.0
ReplyDeletewhat a ridiculous insulting article. If i was a Wild fan, I'd be pissed. But I'm a Jets fan so Go Jets Go.
ReplyDeleteKeep it classy Jets fans
The Jets are going to get Yeo fired.
ReplyDeletejust like they got Lindy Ruff fired?
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO
ReplyDeleteWe, as Jets fans, don't need the extra motivation to be loud when cheering for our team but thanks for the ammo Giles!! GO JETS GO!! GO JETS GO!! GO JETS GO!! Haaaaaaarrrrrdddinnng!! Haaaaaaarrrrrdddinnng!! Haaaaaaarrrrrdddinnng!!
ReplyDeleteLet's go Jets!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I recall correctly, I think there might be a couple of....."SILVER MEDALs" playing for the Wild.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA
GO JETS GO!!!!!!!!!!
We don't need a guide for how to be a fan. This site was most likely cooked up by some basement dwelling geeker and it only gives us a bad rap. You jets fans are probably the best fans in the league, but we fly our flag in the Arena, not on message boards
ReplyDeleteTouché. Good Reply.
DeleteI disagree. Wild fans do need to be told what to do. Otherwise, they just sit there and do nothing unless its a playoff game.
DeleteDo Wild Fans realize this blog is now getting media attention north of the border?
ReplyDeleteFact: The mighty Red River Flows SOUTH for only one Phenomenon: Jets@Wild Games!!
Don't only worry about our attendance or our team.... But we'll drink all of your beer too!!!!!
GO JETS GO!!!!!!!
GO JETS GO!
ReplyDeleteRemember Jets fans, some of your key players are from Minnesota. Keep it classy.
ReplyDeleteVery True.
DeleteTo All Wild Fans -> Buy yourselves a Stuart, Byfuglien, or Wheeler Jets Sweater and support your local boys!!!
If you can't beat 'em, JOIN 'EM!
GO JETS GO!!!!
Dear Mr. Ferrell & the other residents of our esteemed hockey neighbors to the South:
ReplyDeleteOn behalf of Winnipeggers, Jets fans, and Canadian hockey fans; we sincerely apologize that “Wild fans are getting outgunned by the several hundred (or possibly thousand) Jets fans that make their way down to St. Paul.”
We would normally be the quiet unassuming Canadians the rest of the world expects; but fueled by beer (even the weakened brew of the South) and the smell of the ice; Jets fans are loud. Wild fans tend to just sit and do nothing, and that is absolutely the right thing to so. Please, do not stoop to our level and cheer for your team with zest and fervor.
So for those Jets fans travelling to games in St. Paul, M, here is a guide as to what to do/say when Wild fans react to us:
• When Wild fans chant "Lets Go Wild" (which is not great); chant “GO JETS GO” even louder, possibly even while standing. It may make them go back to just lamely saying boooo.
• When heckling the opposition goalie, and they respond in kind, try adding any version of insult toward the opposing goalie’s mother. Up the ante people!
• Always chant, “ref you suck” when the Wild is on power play.
• And lastly, if you are a Jet fan wearing this jersey, and they give you a hard time, be polite and ask them if they are wearing a cup before punching them in the junk. Selanne might play for the Ducks, but he’s a Jet at heart and he belongs on any jersey
The Jets have a distinct home ice advantage. Be sure to also give them a visiting ice advantage.
We are the Team that made a heroic comeback in after 15 years. Let’s freaking act like it.
1812! 1812! 1812!
ReplyDeleteGo Jets go!
Why bring that up? That was so long ago its not worth mentioning. Keep the political crap out of this friendly hockey banter between Jets and Wild fans.
DeleteGo Jets Go!!
how about... Salt Lake City! Salt Lake City!
DeleteIt looks like a pile of throw up on the wild jerseys.... GO JETS GO!!! Best fans hands down!!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to out cheering the wild fans. GO JETS GO
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at the Wild jersey, I think Christmas tree. So, when at tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound.... no! Neither do Wild fans! Go Jets Go!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me want to make the trip next time around.
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!
Us Wild Fans were once North Star fans....then we lost our team. A few years later we got a team back and we were the "best" fans in the league for a few years. Jets fans got their team back and are considered the "best" fans now. I hope in a few years you guys are still considered the "best".
ReplyDeleteI doubt you will be.
Go Wild!
PS what is 1812?
As a Jets 1.0 and 2.0 fan. I too wonder what it will be like in a few years. I hope that fan support doesn't fall off. But its easy for us to say that won't happen. I'm sure a lot of Wild fans thought the same thing.
DeleteHopefully this rivalry works out between the Jets and Wild. It will be great to have one and I look forward to the friendly jabs.
The person that made the 1812 comment is referring to a war between that the US and the British colony called Canada. Canada won the war however historians still argue who won.
Go Jets Go!!
It was a war where Britain beat the US but Canada likes to take credit for it.
DeleteFor the record, I'm from Canada.
In 1814, during the War of 1812, the White House was set ablaze by British troops during the Burning of Washington, in retaliation for burning Upper Canada's Parliament Buildings in the Battle of York; much of Washington was affected by these fires as well. Only the exterior walls remained, and they had to be torn down and mostly reconstructed because of weakening from the fire and subsequent exposure to the elements, except for portions of the south wall.
DeleteI wish I was going to the game. I'd grab a steak at Murray's, best Steak House Ever! We don't have steaks like that in Winnipeg.
DeleteGo JETS GO!!!
there were Canadian militiamen and Native Canadian Warriors fighting alongside the British
DeleteI concede that in a few years if a few new markets get teams (or get teams back) such as Seattle or Quebec City that they might be considered the new "best fans" but I can guarantee that none of their fans will be louder than our fans in OUR building.
ReplyDelete1812 is a history lesson.

Honestly I don't get why trolls come on your blog and give you a hard time. I am a Winnipegger, a Jet fan, but I also love Minneapolis-St.Paul. I hope your fans are loud and proud! Also, if someone actually wears that counterfeit Selanne jersey, punch them in the nuts for me..
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow Winnipeger and Jet fan. Couldn't have said it better! Love Minneapolis-St.Paul.
DeleteHere here. I am a Pegger and cheer for the Jets, but I also cheer for the Vikings, the Twins, and heck, even the Wolves. Minny almost feels like a second home, and I have so many more places yet to visit and discover! Love downtown Minny. I was also down for a Wild-Avalanche game 2 years ago and was wearing my Jets jersey along with my wife. We were warmly welcomed by Wild fans and treated soooo kindly that we were shocked and touched at the same time. I hope I can one day kindly return the favor if I see some fans wearing Wild jerseys in our building.
DeleteLord knows they'll have a hard time being heard, haha.
I'll be at the Jets-Wild game on November 17th and look forward to both the FRIENDLY rivalry AND the Minnesota hospitality.
Cheers
I agree, Minneapolis-St. Paul is a great place to visit! The logo for the Wild is actually pretty awesome. I wonder if the people calling it a blob even realize that it's an animal's head? Hope it's a good game tonight, Go Jets Go!

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like they are Mild fans. NOT Wild fans! Go Jets Go!
ReplyDeleteHey Wild Fans, remember us? We are the streak killers from 2 years ago... remember how well you were doing before you played the Jets? Remember what happened to your season afterwards... Just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteJets fans are LOUDER on this blog too!
ReplyDeleteGO JETS GO!!!
To the Canadian who doesn't even know Canadian history: read the 1812 graphic novel so you don't come off sounding like a dope jock on a hockey blog.

ReplyDeleteGO JETSSSSSSSSSS we're cheering you on so hard back in Winnipeg!
ReplyDeleteWild fans.. its sad that you need a guidline on how to be fans. Just sit back and Winnipeg will show you how its done. GO JETS GO!!!
ReplyDeleteGO JETS WOO!!!
ReplyDeleteHey folks, lets keep it friendly in here or else I will disable the comments.
ReplyDeletei love Minnesota...but of course Winnipeg is my home, and the Jets are my team. Love visiting the Twin Cities, good people, good hockey team, ...We are very much alike within our respective countries. Miss the North Stars. love the Vikes. twins, and the Wild are a good team. may the best team,on that one night win !! CHEERS
ReplyDeleteWe chant the FIRST name of the opposing goalie here in Winnipeg at the MTS Center - not the last name my friend. To break it down for you.....if The Devils are in the building we would chant "Maaaaaaaarrrrrtttttyyyy" - not "Brooooooodeeeuuuuurrr". When your "Josh" comes into our building - we chant "Josssssshhhhhh"....we do this because, on average, we are so knowledgeable about hockey that we know the FIRST name of every goalie in the NHL - not just the one that is in plain view on the back of a jersey!
ReplyDeleteSad that your fans need a checklist of how to be a "fan". Come on Minny, you're a big league city with big league sports franchises. To top it off, an awesome hockey market. Sheesh, get with it folks. I love Minneapolis like a second home, but this article was really sad and funny all in one.
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic that the comments to this post are 95% JETS fans. GO JETS GO! GO JETS GO!
ReplyDeleteGo Jets Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the Wild fans need to step it up a notch ;). Really funny article, don't you have a hockey team to cheer for? GO JETS GO!!!
ReplyDeleteUs Jets fanz r complete animals. Absolute creatures. Jacked up. Ready 2 fuck. Can't stop, won't stop. Miley Cyrus, bitchez.
ReplyDeleteSee you in November. GO JETS GO
ReplyDeleteGood game Peggy! Might want to work on your faceoffs.
ReplyDeleteGo Wild!
Agreed! And shots on net, haha. Oh well, fun atmosphere anyway. See you there November 17th! Go Jets Go.
DeleteNo flame from me, I haven't visited Minny in over a decade, but it still has to be said, as was said before by my Winnipeg brothers and sisters.
ReplyDeleteGo Jets Go!
I like both teams! However, my first loyalty is with the Wild so I have to root for them above everyone else! Go Wild Go! And to the Jets fans here, glad to have you in our division! :)
