Review
After spending virtually all of 2012-13 with Houston (Scandella played six games with Minnesota during the regular season before being recalled for the playoffs), Marco Scandella was out to prove he belonged in the NHL this year. Scandella not only proved he belonged on the NHL team this year, he ended up being one of the best defenseman on the Wild roster. He followed up his strong regular season, with a pretty impressive postseason while averaging over 21 minutes of ice time per game.
Highlights
Status for 2014-15
Scandella enters the final year of his two year contract in 2014-15, which will come to a $1.025M cap hit for the Wild. When the deal expires, Scandella will be a restricted free agent, and should he can continue play like he did this past year, there should be no reason for the Wild to lock him into a new contract.
